Chronology of the armed conflict on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

On April 28, at about 16:00, another conflict broke out on the border with Tajikistan. The reason was that on the territory of the Golovnoy Watershed site, the Tajik side began to install video surveillance cameras on the poles of the power line.

On April 29, from about 04:40 am, the situation in the border area escalated.The state of emergency was declared in the villages of Ak-Tatyr, Ak-Sai and Samarkandek. Residents of these villages were evacuated.

The State Committee for National Security reported that the exchange of fire between the military units of the both sides began at 14:05. As a result of the mortar shelling, the building of the Dostuk frontier outpost of the Batken frontier detachment burst into flames.

At 20:00, the State Committee for National Security reported that the Golovnoy area, located in the Batken region, is under the full control of the Kyrgyz side. The confrontation between the parties continued, including with the use of weapons.

The foreign ministers of the two countries agreed on a complete ceasefire starting from 20:00 and the withdrawal of military forces to the places of their former deployment. Ruslan Kazakbaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, noted that the Kyrgyz side does not claim foreign territories and does not intend to share its land with anyone.

In the village of Kok-Terek, Batken region, 17 houses of Kyrgyz citizens were completely burned down. There are also burnt houses and gas stations in the villages of Sada, Maksat in the Kulundu district and in the villages of Jashtyk, Borborduk, Arka in the districts of Zhany-Zher in Leilek..

As of 11:45 pm on April 29, a shootout was stopped in the incident zone on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, the Kyrgyz border service reported.

On the morning of April 30, it was known about 134 victims, 13 of them died. 25 people were taken from Batken to Bishkek. Asia-Plus reports 90 injured and about 10 dead from the Tajik side.
